ERO Report (Aug 2008)

comments from the report: ..... a majority of students in Years 3 to 6 are achieving within or above broad age appropriate expectations in both reading and mathematics....

Significant numbers of individuals and groups of students are enjoying success both at school and local level in a range of sporting, cultural and academic activities, events and competitions.

Overall, students are receiving a high quality education.  The majority of teachers are experienced and highly competent classroom practitioners who are skilled in the use of strategies to engage students in learning.  Classroom environments across the school are stimulating, attractive, well presented and strongly reflect the school’s focus on the teaching of literacy and numeracy.....

The principal and board of trustees are strongly committed to professional learning and development as a means of raising student achievement.  There is a clear alignment between strategic direction, professional learning and development goals...

In keeping with the school’s key values of pride, respect, responsibility and honesty, the overall tone and atmosphere in the school is inclusive, positive and affirming.  Teachers know students well and are sensitive to their physical, social and emotional needs.  Appropriate support is being provided for students who are identified as having particular learning needs.  The board, management and staff demonstrate a commitment to biculturalism.  A Māori cultural dimension is strongly reflected in school-wide and classroom environments as well as in school ceremonies, events and protocols....

Excellent attendance is vital for good progress.
Your child should be attending school unless they are sick or there are very special circumstances.

If your child is sick please phone school 348 1489 or text 027 769 1323 and let us know, or send a note with a sibling. We would appreciate knowing by 9.15 am, if your child is going to be absent, as caregivers of children absent without explanation are phoned between 9.15-9.30am each morning.

Donations - updated (Mar 10 )
School Donations
These are a voluntary payment made by families to the school. We value them highly as they help pay for paper and other consumables used by the children. Currently donation requests per child are $15.00 per term or $50.00 a year if paid in the first term.

Activity Fees
From time to time special activities are offered to the children on a paying basis. We endeavour to keep these below $5.00. It is important to be fair to everyone so children can only attend if they pay. This payment is collected by the class teacher on a cost recovery basis.
